Samsung oven error codes: the full list
Samsung ranges and wall ovens split their codes into three families: C-codes (temperature and cooling-fan monitoring on newer smart ranges), E-codes (oven function faults) and short codes (control panel: SE, tE, LE). Every code links to a fix-first page with the part, the cost and whether it is worth repairing.
C-codes: temperature and fan monitoring
These appear on newer NE/NX series smart ranges. The three people actually meet: C-21 (oven overheat shutdown — sensor), C-24 (rapid temperature rise near the ventilation area — airflow or thermistor), and C-F2 (cooling-fan feedback fault).
| Code | Meaning | DIY |
|---|---|---|
C-d0 | Stuck key detected | easy |
cE-56 | Internal control board fault | hard |
C-21 | Oven internal temperature too high — the safety monitor tripped, most often the temperature sensor or its circuit | moderate |
C-24 | Rapid temperature rise detected around the ventilation and control area — a cooling-airflow or over-temp sensing fault | moderate |
C-F2 | Cooling-fan / control communication fault — the display board is not receiving the expected feedback from the cooling fan circuit | moderate |
E-codes: oven function faults
| Code | Meaning | DIY |
|---|---|---|
E-08 | Oven not heating: bake/broil element or temperature sensor fault (on some models: door lock fault) | moderate |
E-0A | Oven overheating | moderate |
E-0E / FL | Door lock error | moderate |
E-27 | Oven temperature sensor open circuit (resistance too high) | easy |
E-28 | Oven temperature sensor short circuit (resistance too low) | easy |
E-54 | Communication fault between oven and cooktop control boards | hard |
E-55 | Display / touch panel communication error | hard |
Control-panel short codes
| Code | Meaning | DIY |
|---|---|---|
SE | Defective or stuck key on the control panel (short in the touchpad membrane) | moderate |
LE | Low voltage fault (board supply under about 9 V DC) | hard |
tE | Touch communication error | hard |
to / ts | Cooktop temperature sensor error | hard |
ot | Cooktop overheating | hard |
bo / bs | Inverter (induction) control board sensor fault | not recommended |
First steps for any Samsung oven code
- Cut power at the breaker for 5 minutes — Samsung boards hold the code until hard reset; a code that returns after reset is real.
- Write down the exact code before it clears — the letter part identifies the family and narrows the part instantly.
- Temperature-family codes (C-21, C-24, E-2x) start with the cavity sensor: ~1,080 ohms at room temperature on a meter is healthy.
- Overheat codes mean stop cooking until verified — a genuinely overheating oven is a fire risk, not an inconvenience.
Samsung publishes an official code list per model line at samsung.com support; this page compiles the codes owners actually encounter with the fixes repairers actually apply. Model suffixes (NE58*/NX60*) can add codes — search your display code plus the model number for anything not listed.
